| Nothing says high tech on an RC car better than
woven graphite, otherwise known as carbon fiber. For those
of you who are working with a woven graphite component, there is
one thing you have to remember, you must prepare it. By that
we mean that extra care must be taken before you simply bolt it on
to your car. By using these simple steps, your new
investment will be sure to last longer and help maintain its high
tech looks.

STEP 1 - GATHER YOUR MATERIALS
Do do this, you will need some sand paper or sanding sticks, some
thin CA (Cyanoacrylate) or super glue, Q-Tips, and paper towels.

|
STEP 2 - SAND THE EDGES
Using either the sand paper or sanding sticks, which ever you
prefer, sand across the entire grain of the chassis all the way
around to lightly round off the sharp corners of the
component. I also like to make sure and get the inside
cutouts as well if there are any. |

|
|
STEP 3 - WIPE EDGES
Wipe the edges where you have sanded with a paper towel.
This gets rid of the sanding dust that was created and gives the
glue a cleaner area to bond to. |

STEP 4 - GLUE
Take your CA and lightly soak the end of the Q-Tip. You
don't want it dripping wet but soaked with enough glue for it to
transfer easily. Lightly drag the end of the Q-Tip across
the side of the component and you will see the glue
transfer. As you work your away around the component you
will notice that the end of the Q-Tip harden from the glue.
When it does, it will no longer conform to the piece you are
working with. That's when it is time to change to a new
one. Repeat that process until you are finished with your
components. Don't forget to glue the inside of the component
as well. I also like to put glue where countersinks have
been drilled. Simply push the Q-Tip into it but be careful
not to forcefully push. You only want the glue to
transfer. |

| It is somewhat time consuming but by
taking these steps, you will help extend the life of your costly
investment. |
